A while back, I wrote about the musical talents of Tim Gilbertson. Well, his first full length record was just picked up by Edmonton-based Pop Echo Records, who are going to be releasing it to the masses sometime in May. Also of note: he has a show coming up at the Powerplant on February 3rd, as well as an interview with the Edmonton Journal scheduled for the near future. If you haven’t already done so, I highly recommend you check out his myspace page for some samples of his music. And of course, be on the lookout for his debut release in May!

With their intricate guitar riffs, numerous tempo transitions, and awesome vocals, Silverstein is quickly becoming one of the best screamo bands around. They’re certainly one of my favorites, and, luckily for me, they’re playing at the Showbox on October 30th. Rachel and I will be there with bells on… then we’ll trade the bells in for a couple of snazzy new T’s.

My good friend Burke just sent me a link for Seattle-based band The Classic Crime, and I highly recommend you all check them out as well. They just released their debut album “Albatross” (on sale now at Best Buy for 10 bux), and to celebrate, they’re giving away a skateboard a week. Just visit their purevolume site to learn how to enter. Thanks for the link Burke!

Motion City Soundtrack is a great band from Minneapolis that has been around since 1999. I’ve been listening to their new album “Commit This to Memory” a lot lately and highly recommend you take some time to have a listen. Really catchy, melodic stuff that is sure to have your feet tapping and your head bobbing. Visit their nicely designed site and launch the music player for some tasty goodness.
